Navratan, the nine gems of ancient Indian tradition, each one assigned to a celestial body, each one carrying a blessing, together they make this hasli not merely a necklace but a talisman worn around the neck. A rigid torque of woven gilded mesh carries a broad front section whose entire surface is embedded with ruby, emerald, sapphire, amethyst and polki in a granulated gold matrix, every stone pressed directly into the metal in the ancient Jadau tradition. The hasli closes at two polki dome terminals, each one a small world of gems gathered into a single point, the nine stones present until the very last moment.Minar means tower in Urdu, and these earrings are exactly that, two jewelled towers worn at the ear. A polki dome crown sits at the top, its surface studded with round gems in granulated gold, commanding and complete. Below it, a cylindrical body of horizontal bands carries ruby, emerald, sapphire and amethyst in alternating rows, each colour a different storey of the same tower, separated by rows of bezel-set zirconia. At the base, a delicate filigree tip tapers to a fine point, the minaret's final flourish, as if the tower has been built all the way to its conclusion and knows exactly where it ends.
